Yea, I know...its Wednesday

My uncle died Monday night. :( Very sad. He'd been battling throat cancer and sadly it won. It really made me not want to do anything Tuesday morning other than mope, but I decided that was a terrible reason not to move. So I almost ran a whole three miles, got a bit choked up at the end but stuck with it and did the Tuesday killer workout too.

Seriously, it was only a day...but i couldn't tell you what i ate. Really scares me sometimes. Sigh.

Today it was a rain day so that made today my Rest day!!! WEEEEEEEE. I did nothing which was a great thing because my calves and knees were hurting last night. Should be good to run tomorrow. :)

Breakfast:2 waffles and coffee
Snack: banana strawberry smoothie
Lunch: yummy bean, tomato, cheese quesadilla (i love these)
Snack:....forgot :)
Dinner: chicken salad sandwich (thanks Lynn) and a salad, and one small piece of eggplant parmesan (i made it for dinner but had no one to eat it with, so i didn't eat it)
Water throughout the day

Well, i'm off to study some more....will be doing handstands when i pass this flippin' test!

Ooops, again :)

Oh well, maybe one day I'll be on the ball again! Its Monday, and I haven't blogged in a few days....long story short, I lost another lb so I'm now below the 180s! (insert canned applause here)
I haven't been below that in quite a while so woo hoo!

Today, I decided to step up the working out and added 2 more miles. I walked one, ran two then walked the last. My knees are a bit mad at me at the moment but I needed to increase, and i'll be walking those two new miles for the whole week, and next week I'll slowly start running some of it. Thats my goal.....

Today was going well.....until I got in front of food....
Breakfast:2 waffles with butter, coffee (I was saying no way to oatmeal today)
Snack: half of banana strawberry yogurt smoothie
Lunch: Salad with a pinch of cheese, 1/8 cup craisins, drizzle of ranch dressing and romaine lettuce, and 1/2 quesadilla with a pinch of cheese, black beans and green peppers on whole wheat tortilla
Snack: the rest of the smoothie.....
Then it got out of hand
2 bites of cold mac and cheese, 4 bites of cold pizza, then I calmed down...
salad like lunch, with a stuffed 1/2 zucchini (stuffed with zucchini, beans a touch of plain yogurt, some spices and a sprinkle of cheese)

Its sad to realize hormones were taking over after the fact.....Gotta love being a girl. This week is going to be hard because I'm going to be hungry.

Catching up

Sheesh, I keep forgetting to post at night....I have been busy studying at night...but its not really a good excuse. So! Saturday I walked/ran 2 miles, and did the Saturday's workout (ouch), can't remember the food to write it down...but I behaved....Sunday I weighed in and I've lost 6lbs so far! Weee! :) Walked/ran 2 miles and of course can't remember the food to write it down but I behaved...and we got snow on Sunday! They were only calling for 1-3 inches by the end of the forcasting.....AND of course they were wrong. :) 8 inches! I have very happy children. :)
Monday I decided not to work out because there was snow. And I couldn't really go out. Instead we took the kids sledding. And of course I can't think of the food, but I know I behaved.

Tuesday....we still had snow and they delayed school for my daughter which then meant my son had no school....I was going to just do nothing but I felt like that wasn't a good reason for not exercising. I pulled out my WII fit plus game, fired up the free run and jogged in place, ran around the room...essentially looking like an idiot for over 2 miles. Then I did the Monday workout because I was completing not thinking. (Doesn't matter, they all suck) But I worked out and was happy about it. :)
Breakfast:oatmeal with banana and walnuts, coffee
Lunch: black bean, onion, water chestnut and cheddar cheese quesadilla and iced tea
Snack: banana p.b. smoothie
Dinner: pork chop, potatoes, green beans, mushrooms...I through half of it away...I wasn't really feeling it...water


So today! I ran almost the whole two miles! I stopped after 4 songs...which is roughly 1 1/2 miles and walked for half a song then said, screw it.....and ran the rest. I will probably be sore tomorrow but I felt pretty good doing it and I didn't have any problems breathing. That was huge. I remember when I started walking the two miles and added running for one song, I could barely make it through the song without feeling like I was going to have an asthma attack. Now I'm was winded by the end but not feeling like an attack was coming! That's good progress!
And I did the Wednesday workout. I really hate the jumping jacks....I'm just saying...:)

They Might Be Giants



I had an excuse!! I was going to post but i forgot i was going out for a late valentines present. To see They Might Be Giants!!!! :) And I ended up at the front of the stage too. Weeeeeee. I got my workout watching the band too, jumping up and down like one of the college kids :) They sang Birdhouse in your Soul, Sexxy, James K. Polk, The mesopotamians, and This from Apollo 18. That's the ones I can remember off the top of my head. :) It was a load of fun....for me at least...Terry not so much.

So, yesterday!!!
Breakfast: oatmeal with bananas, coffee
Snack: 1/2 spinach banana smoothie
Lunch: a couple fried cheese wheels and the other 1/2 of the smoothie
Snack: 14 pistachios
Dinner: 2 bowls of chicken tortilla soup....ah.
A beer at the show. :)
And I did not workout...it was raining for most of the day and i needed a break...my chest was killing me.

Today though, I was good. I walked/ran 2 miles on the greenway. I've gotten myself to the point where I can run for 2 straight songs, walk one then run 2 songs...and i'm usually done with the two miles by then. :) Then I came home and did the Friday workout.....ouch.

Breakfast: walnut banana oatmeal, coffee
Snack: banana pb smoothie
Lunch: 1 bowl of tortilla soup
Snack: 14 pistachios
Dinner: 2 thin slices of pizza (maybe 1 total) and a bowl of torilla soup

I'm trying to make up for last week.....we'll see on Sunday. :)

Its Wednesday


I busted Arse today. Walked/ran 2 miles...trying to run the whole thing, then i can walk two miles....thats my goal. And I did Wednesday's routine.....ohhhhh my arms hurt. No pain no gain, right? :)

The jumping jacks are the sucky part. Oh i hate those....mostly because they make my heart race. Hey, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!! :)~

Breakfast: oatmeal with banana, coffee
Snack: glorious banana peanut butter smoothie....ah.
Lunch: fried tofu with a homemade tzatziki sauce on a whole wheat bun and steamed broccoli, water
Snack: p.b. granola bar
Dinner: 1 small piece of chicken, boiled with tzatziki sauce on it with fried (in a tbsp of oil) potatoes and spinach and like 20 baby carrots, and water.

I think I did pretty good today with food. I'm gonna try and shoot for this again tomorrow. :)

Happy Heart Day

Well, I worked out really hard today. I did 2 miles, ran about 1 mile....and then did jumping jacks and pushups. 10, 9, 8, etc.....talk about jelly arms. It took 4 hours before my arms didn't shake. :0

Food....sorta did ok...til dinner....ugh.

Breakfast: oatmeal with bananas, coffee.
Snack: banana peanut butter smoothie....aaah.
Lunch: pork fried rice, water
Snack: granola bar
Dinner, sloppy joe with cheese, the rest of the mac salad (1/2 cup), some chips (i know, i know)
Then to add insult to injury...had some sour cream/salad dip with tortilla chips....oh, and one chocolate covered strawberry.

Not losing any weight with this....but I wrote it down....

I really am trying

Sigh, i'm disappointed in myself. I stopped writing stuff down. You know what happened?
I gained a 1 1/2. After swearing at myself and feeling completely sorry for myself, I decided that I did, indeed, need to write stuff down.

So here I am again, proving to myself (over and over and over) that I NEED to spend the 10 minutes a night and write my food down.

I know what the problem was last week....superbowl....and valentines chocolate in the house and girl scout cookies.

So, I'm telling myself that I'm allergic to that stuff right now.....(so far its working)

Breakfast: 2 buttered waffles, coffee, with two tsp sugar and 1 tbsp or so of creamer
Snack: pistachios (like 12 of them...that was all that was left)
Lunch :1/2 serving of lentils and red beans and broccoli with cheese on it
Snack: I forgot.....oops.
Dinner: pork fried rice (maybe 1/2 cup) and 1 cup of broccoli and I'm drinking water.

Gonna be hungry in a couple hours...this will be a problem but I'm hoping to just drink water.:)

I only walked/ran 2 miles today. Was a bit tired so no other exercises but not going to do that for the rest of the week. Must push through!!!!

See?!?!?!

Its Monday the 6th, and i have blown off a few days journaling. Whoops! See, I get in these moods and I say, screw it. (I've had a bad couple of days and that didn't help either).
So, even though I didn't journal, I did weigh in yesterday and lost some more weight. :)
I'm at 182 now. So basically 4 lbs in two weeks. Mostly because I added exercise, and i added more fruit and veggies to my diet. Still eating things that aren't exactly cooked the healthiest (fried pork chops, mashed potatoes...stuff like that) but I did say it would be a process.

So, so far so good.

I'll add my normal food intake later tonight. :)

Day of rest

Ok, I decided that I needed a day of rest. I've been working out everyday, so I needed to let my muscles rest....that and I can barely walk. :)~ I've been sore before but not to the point of not being able to function. Getting old really does suck.

Anyhoo! Day of rest meant I somewhat blew my diet. Remember the 2 -4 week thing I talked about....I caught myself before I totally said screw it all. That's some progress. I wasn't the greatest but I could have made it a lot worse. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

Breakfast: 2 waffles, 1 banana, 10 oz coffee 1tbsp creamer, 2tsp sugar
Snack: yummy peanut butter banana smoothie
Lunch: thai coconut soup....two bowls....:)
Snack: 2 mint cookies (hormones......evil....simply evil...)
Dinner: Chinese takeout....lo mein (yum), a taste of chicken and mushroom, moo goo gai pan, 1 crab rangoon. Probably ate more than I should, but I did stop and not gorge like I totally could have and usually would.

So! Tomorrow I will work out again, (NO BIKE) and look forward to the weigh in on Sunday!!
(and blow from the Superbowl party...but i'll worry about that next week! :) )

I was weak

Well, hormones won today. I cave and had three mint oreo cookies today.......OH MY......yum :)

Thats alright, I worked out more than I intended today....I rode my bike for 4 miles today and walked two miles. Let me just say that I will be lucky if I can walk tomorrow. My hips are so flippin' sore. All for the good of the cause. :)

Breakfast: 2 waffles, 10oz coffee, 2 tsp sugar, 1 tbsp creamer
Snack: 1 tbsp peanut butter
Lunch: lettuce/spinach salad with sprinkling of cheese and 1/4 cup of bbq shredded chicken with 2 tbsp salad dressing
Snack: handful pistachios
Dinner: cheese/potato gnocchi with marinara sauce, carrots and 5 turkey meatballs oh! and 10oz coffee, 2 tsp sugar, 1 tbsp half and half

AND THREE MINT OREO COOKIES :)

Oh hormones, why do you hate me so?


Another blah day, but at least the blahs didn't happen until the afternoon. I was able to do my exercises with no problems. :)

So!
Breakfast:10oz coffee 1tbsp creamer, 2 tsp sugar granola with milk and strawberries
Snack: strawberry smoothie...1cup
Lunch: cucumbers with egg salad on them and a salad with my homemade dressing
Snack: strawberry smoothie...1cup and a handful of puffs (hormones made me do it)
Dinner: BBQ chicken with cheese on a bun, beans and spinach, 2 slices of tomatoes and vitamin water
Exercises:4 miles on the greenway and Tuesdays workout list....oye.

And this is the first day I've had a headache in two weeks....must be due to the hormones....sigh.

Monday monday....

Welcome to the new week. Today was a blah day. Hormones put me in a...eh, could care less mood. But I powered through. I really wanted to do more exercises, but just didn't feel like it. This will be the nemesis I will have to deal with every month......sigh.



Breakfast: 3/4 cup of flake cereal with sliced strawberries, 1% milk, 10oz coffee, 1tbsp creamer, 2 tsp sugar
Snack: mint granola bar
Lunch: large salad with romaine and spinach, 1/4 cup black beans, 1/2 avocado and 3tbsp of homemade Mexican dressing
Snack: 1 cup spinach smoothie
Dinner: turkey meatloaf, spinach/black bean side, cucumbers and a little cornbread dressing

Exercise: 3 miles on Greenway, yoga abs video, and 40 sit-ups on ball

The first weigh in

Food Intake for the day:
Breakfast:2 waffles with butter, 10oz coffee with 1tbsp creamer and 2 tsp sugar
Snack: 1 apple
Lunch: 2 1/2 pieces of pizza....yikes....and an iced tea
Dinner: 1 pork chop (breaded and fried of course), spinach and mushrooms, green beans, a little bit of cornbread stuffing and some chunky applesauce.
Dessert! 1 60z chocolate banana strawberry smoothie :)

Drum roll please! I lost 2 and 1/2 pounds!!! Woooo Hooo! :)~

Considering I wasn't really a full week, i'll take it. And yeah, yeah, I know...water weight....but I have to start somewhere. :)

I do have to say that knowing I have to post on this blog is good motivation for writing stuff down. I'm paying attention to what I'm eating. Now, I may not be eating perfectly or am counting calories yet, but I think as first weeks go, I'm pleased and I know what I need to improve upon. And I'm digging the smoothies. Yum. And the kids like it too. AND I get to sneak in spinach into their diet! Woo Woo!! Good mommy. :)

I'm going to start adding more salads into my day. I think one a day would be good, either as my lunch or part of dinner. I'm just afraid i'll get burned out...so dressings will be my search this week. Maybe I can make some.....hmmmmm.

And I'm in love with Pinterest.com. The site has a lot of cool exercises to do for each day of the week; which helps keep it less predictable.

So, tomorrow's another day! Let hope for another good week!

Weekend bound

Made it to Saturday! Nothing real exciting today. I was good and walked on the trail for two miles and did my yoga tape again (barf) and once I'm done with this, I'll do my sit-ups on the ball. :)

Breakfast: 2 waffles with butter, 10oz coffee, two tsp sugar, 1tbsp creamer
Snack: mmmmmmmm smoothie...2 cups...i was bad. :)
Lunch: 2 pieces of pizza, 1 glass of sierra mist
Snack: mint granola bar
Dinner: rotisserie chicken, green beans, cucumbers, a little bit of mashed potatoes and some mushrooms

Excerise: 2 miles, yoga tape on working your behind :) and 40 situps

Chinese New Year

Ni Hao! :) Today we went to a friends house for a Chinese New Year party. It basically set the stage for how the day went simply because I decided I had to bring a cake to the party. (the night before)
The lucky thing for me is that I had already had cake in the freezer, and I had almost all my ingredients! But it meant what time I had to exercise, I used to work on the cake....I know excuses, excuses...but I finished the cake 45 minutes before we left!
And because it was a party, I ate like it was a party. So I made it my day of rest day :)~

Breakfast: Oatmeal with banana, 10oz coffee with 2 tsp sugar and tbsp creamer
Snack: strawberry, pinapple, peach smoothie around 6 oz.
Lunch: salad with 1 chicken breast, 1/2 cup of black beans and yum yum sauce for dressing :)
Snack: mint granola bar
Dinner: ooooooooooooh yum.....low mein, 2 dumplings. 1 crab rangoon, a curry thing, and some spicy thing...moo goo gai pan maybe (pathetic, but I had NO idea what I ate) and OF COURSE a piece of lemon cake. :) Oh, and a glass of Mr. Pibb.

Day three....so far so good.

Well, I've made it to day three! So far so good.


Breakfast: brown sugar oatmeal with half a banana, 10oz coffee, 1tbsp creamer, 2 tsp sugar

Snack....i didn't have time!!!! That sucked cuz I was hungry. (made up for it with lunch)

Lunch: 1 lasagna cup (lasagna in a muffin form), caesar salad, one parmesan knot (crescant roll with parmesan cheese and spices on it).......oh yeah, and two oreo truffles. :)~

Snack : 10oz coffee, 1tbsp creamer, 2tsp sugar......couple chips (again, I'm weak)

Dinner: 1 lasagna cup and caesar salad, sweet tea.

Exercise: 2 mile walk on the greenway, yoga arms DVD, 40 sit-ups on ball
(I have to say that I do get the reason for yoga...its really good at getting you to be flexible and another way to work your core....but OMG. The lady on the DVD talks is such a way that its supposed to calm you so you can be in a happy place while you bend in crazy positions. But I have to tell you, she makes me want to punch the screen! Her voice is literally like nails on a chalk board. Sigh.

Tomorrows another day. :)

I do know that I need to watch what I eat more, but for now adding exercise is a big step. :)

I made it to day two!!

Well, i made it to day two! And i feel like I was run over by a truck. This is the worst part about working out....the start up. Today I took it a bit easier and did a yoga/pilates tape on just abdominals to go with my walk. But now comes my first real challenge: Nighttime. Oh MY GOODNESS, I'm hungry after 8pm. I'm dying as I write this. So, i'm trying to keep busy and just drink water. And keep busy.......oye.

Breakfast:2 slices of raisin bread, banana, 10oz coffee, tbsp creamer, 2 tsp sugar

Snack: rest of smoothie

Exercise: 2 miles on the greenway, abdominal part on yoga/pilates tape, 40 situps on ball

Lunch: Buffalo chicken salad, water

Snack: mint granola bar, coffee 10 oz, 1tbsp creamer, 2 tsp sugar ( I can't kick this one yet)

Dinner: turkey burgers, kidney bean salad, fruit salad, a couple potato chips (I'm weak)

I am mildly interested to see what Sunday brings.....that will be the official day to weigh in and have my say for the week. Til then, Work spares us from three evils: boredom, vice, and need.~ Voltaire

Official list of food and exercise for 1/24/12

Tuesday January 24th 2012
I weigh......sigh....186 lbs. (gross)

Breakfast: 14oz coffee, with 3 tsp sugar 60 c, and 2 tsp peppermint mocha creamer 70c
2 pieces of raisin bread with butter 190c

Exercise: walked on the greenway roughly 2 miles at a pretty brisk pace
Pilates exercises (most of the j.michaels exercises) at least 10 reps once (these are flippin hard)

Snack: smoothie 1/4 of the blender(1 cup strawberries 50c, 1 cup pinapple 85c, 1 cup plain vanilla
yogurt 140c, 2 handfuls of spinach, 1 tbsp honey60 c, 1/2 cup water)=335c=84 calories

Lunch: Egg salad lettuce wraps 114 calories, celery, water and 1/2 bottle of vitamin water
(have to watch my intake of this stuff....too much and i get headaches and have a long visit
with the commode)

Exercise: ran 1.84 miles on the Wii with my son and other assorted nonsense with Wii Fit.

Snack: small smoothie-42 calories and water

Exercise: Since it was such a nice day, we walked the greenway (again) so 2 miles, at a moderate pace

Dinner: Piece of lightly fried chicken with yum yum sauce, salad with 1 tbsp light ceasar, 1/2 can green beans,
1/3 cup macaroni salad and water to drink

This is WAY more exercise than i'm used to, so I Guarantee I will be sore tomorrow. :)


Gotta start some day, why not today?


Ok, tried everything at one point of my life, so why not a blog?
I have a simple goal. To lose 40 lbs by 40. I've been overweight since I had my daughter (now 9) and my son (now 5). I think this is reasonable, i mean, i have roughly 2 years to do it (ok more like, a year and a half) and I think that's a good goal.

Major roadblocks 1) I love food, and not just the healthy stuff. Who doesn't like a bag of BBQ potato chips? And I mean BAG. Sigh, 2) I really don't like to exercise. Who does? Ok, so maybe some of you do, but I.....don't. 3) I have a 2-4 week block. Doesn't matter what I do, somewhere around 2-4 weeks, I just give up. I think it has to do with hormones, or laziness....I haven't ruled out either.

So, I'm starting today!

For the week, i'll just post my info: food intake and excerises. But once a week, i'll assess how the week went.

The picture's statement will be my mission statement. I can't give up after 4 weeks, I need to keep moving. So, here I go!
